Silhouette Sunsets

I am a big fan of silhouette projects.
My Kindergartners sure seem to like them too.
We made our background wash in one 30 minute session.
I used tempera cakes for the sunset.
The next week we made some southwestern items (mountain, wolf, cactus) out of black construction paper.
Just loved the black against the bright colors.

  2. Thanks for the great post, Jen. Do you mind posting what brand of tempera cakes you used? The colors are really brilliant. Thanks!

  3. Hi Jen,

Thanks for responding so quickly about the tempera cakes as I am filling out purchase requests this week. I just couldn't believe how vivid that violet was in your student's silhouette projects! Speaking of cars and names, I love "Coop". Cute!
I have only had 4 cars in my life; Toy Toy, (Toyota Celica) Toyette, (Toyota liftback)Mitsi, (Mitsubishsi Mirage) and my "new dented darling", Ella, (Hyundai Elantra Touring). Way too TMI I know, but you feel like a kindred spirit!

    1. kindred spirits indeed!
The violet looks like fuchsia when it is dry and resting in the tray, so if you can find a tempera cake that is called fuchsia, then that might be the right one!
